New St. Nektarios Church
December 28, 2025, marked a fantastic event for one of our own, Fr. Richard Okello. On this day, the new St. Nektarios Church was consecrated, and Fr. Richard was ordained.
Following a delayed start due to the COVID Pandemic, Fr. Richard began his studies in 2022. Fr. Richard completed his studies at St. Vladimir's Orthodox Theological Seminary in New York in 2025 and traveled back to Uganda to reunite with his family and begin his work.
This marks the second Ugandan that Lift Up Uganda was able to sponsor at St. Vladimir's Orthodox Theological Seminary. Fr. Simon Menya was the first. Many of you continue to follow Fr. Simon and his accomplishments through the Northern Uganda Self-Sufficiency Project, and we look forward to seeing Fr. Richard achieve his own successes.
